I think smoking is a fairly horrible habit, but I feel ambivalent about many of the anti-smoking laws in some places. How much of our freedom can be curtailed by a government, even if it is for our own good? How much restriction will we accept from employers? When does a restriction become discrimination? I think if people in Canada had some of the habits that people in Japan have, then smoking wouldn't be such a nuisance: you NEVER see someone throw a cigarette butt on the ground in Japan.
