Have you ever got a godmother? I have been in Edmonton almost three years where I have got godmother for two years. When I came here for previous time, I was lieving downtown near Jarsper Avenue where has a nice small anglican church close my place. My husband and me used to visit the friendly place that we made lots of friends at there. We learned lots of valueble things from there after a half year we had baptised by the church pastor who orderd a godmother for us. Even though we were so old for baptism we have still happy we got the godmother who is nice, kind lady she is. My godmother who's name Natalie Mcadoma is retied teacher from Alberta university. She has foru children one is daughter three are son but no one lives with her that are most canadians life style we have learning about it from her. My godmother is so smart and independent she has a big range of her hobbies between read, cooking, plant, volunteer and political. She 's main interesting in political which is alwasy became our topic when we conversing with each other. I like she,s nimble view and wide wisdom we have learned lots of valuble things from her. She is as my real mother who was dead thirteen years ago. I love my godmother so much since I fortunately met her.

About 2 years ago I was in the Save on Foods with my husband. He was wearing shorts and a T-shirt with writing on it that says: "trust me, I'm a doctor". I was walking with hem when an old woman stopped him and said:" Are you a doctor?". He said: "yes". She said " I do not think you are!!". In fact, she was underestimating us. She justified her reaction by saying that if we were educated, I should not wear a scarf and a long dress that covers my body at the same time that my husband's legs are shown because my legs are more beautiful than his! She said if you want to study, study in your country. She did not even wait to listen to us.

She was too rude, and I was shocked. That was the first time some one mistreated us and I hope it is the last.

Because Canada is a multicultural place where people are free to practice their religions and cultures, we did not expect to be insulted.

Chasing my dreams

One of the hardest things to do in my life is find time for my dreams. I love illustrating and painting, sculpting with wire, designing jewellery, and drawing cartoons, and I really want more time to pursue these hobbies, but I don't make enough money from it for it to be a career right now. I tried being a fulltime artist once before, and I found that the life of an artist is hard, hard work. For every hour I spent drawing, I would then spend an hour trying to find assignments and clients. I'm entirely uninterested in being a businessman (businesswoman?). Perhaps I quit that life too soon. There is a magic point at which the struggle to find work and get known transforms into a reputation and a steady workload, but I didn't reach that point before my life changed and I ended up in Japan, teaching English. The rest is history, as they say.

But it's not quite history, because I can't rid myself of the urge to create. My husband, bless him, supports me in very important ways. If I need to draw, he knows that I will ignore the million household things (laundry, cooking, cleaning) and he will do most of it for us. I am very lucky to have found him.

In July I have a chance to make part of my dreams come true. I will be one of the artists in the Whyte Avenue Art Walk. It's a fun festival that happens every year. Here's my artist biography...

Love Before or After Marriage?

I am the first woman in my husband's life. And I am the only one. This is one of advantages of the arrange marriage. I have never met my husband before we get married accept for one time: when he came to my family home the day he asked to marry me. However, we fall in love with each other since that time! This is one of millions of marriages that are very common in my culture and very successful too. The rate of divorce in my country is very low compared with those in the western communities.

Even if they find an alternative, I believe that men cannot forget the first love. In this case a man might compare his wife with the woman whom he first loved. Besides, love before marriage is not necessarily associated with happiness. Where as love after marriage is mostly associated with happiness. Nothing is better than sharing your life and having a beautiful family with your love and forever.

Another aspect related to this issue is that love is very important for a successful marriage, but it is not the most important element. respecting and understanding your spouse is the key factors for a marriage success.

Sudan, Where it's Going?.....part -2-

Another reason for Sudan's lack of devolopment and civil wars is injustice. As a result of the dectatorism of the National Islamic Conference Party, which has rules Sudan for almost 19 years, the justice became controled by the govering party. This defect can be seen clearly in Darfur conflict; The UN declared that 51 people have involved in Darfur's genocide, and the government says that thes people should be tried only by the national justice system. However, all of them are still free untill now. Not only that, but some of them got a promotion, as Musa Hilal, a Janjaweed leader who has becme the president advisor.

Do we have to have Mother's Day?

You can not appreciate your mother's efforts with you as a baby till you have your own baby. I knew this fact after I delivered my daughter. It is true that being a mom is the most beautiful feeling in the world, however, it is a very difficult job. You cannot imagine the physical, emotional, psychological, and financial challenges that is associated with the nine months of pregnancy, the pain of contractions during the labor time, and the sleeplessness after the delivery. And after all this pain, all this exhausted process, your mother will carry you on her heart, on her eyes and on her soul.
For my baby's sake I will sacrifice my time, money, enjoyment, and my youth. Nothing would make me busy to take care of her. Being away from her for any reason does not mean I am not with her. She is with me all the time. I think about her every moment in my life. I cannot eat if she is hungry, drink if she is thirsty, sleep if she is sick, or even smile if she is crying. She is part of me, the most adorable part of me.
In my country we do not have mother's day. Do not panic! For us, every day is a mother day. We do not have to have mother's day to remember our mothers. for example, eventhough my mother is thousands kilos away from me, I call her almost every day. I keep her updated to my news as I know she is excited to her from me. I do not now how can some people neglect there mothers several years or even forever!! In my opinion, it is our duty to take care of them as they get older. They need us just the same way we needed them when we were babies. What ever we do for them, it will not equalize their love, time, efforts, pain, and sacrifices they have made and are making for us every day.
It is very obvious that our mothers deserve more than one day or an annual gift to remember them. What do you think??

English is second language for me

I am immigrant and new comer, since I came here the English is big challenge for me. So I have to learn how to speaking, writing, reading, and listenning That's so difficult for me. I just think about if I can learn how to write quickly as my teacher's that is impossible. You know the language for native person that 's as a natural resource that is so easy for them. But for immigrants the second language of English is not easy, especially for adults of immigrants that is desperate difficulty as big sharp of mountain nobody can mount it easily.

America's New world Order Is it a Policy or a Problem?

Let me throw myself into the murky water of American policy. The former present of the United States of America (the Bush senior who is the father of the presedent of USA )with his old Hawks administrations such as Dick Chaney, and Ramisfield started what they called their new world order which they intended to laid out their policy in dealing with other nations around the world.
Unfortunately, his son who is the president of America at the moment decided continuoe his fathers foot steps by continuing his vision and policy. As a matter of fact, he did not only continue his fathers vision for american foreign policy but he included his administration many of the pillers of the new world order.
This new world order vision begins with wrong ideology and believes, which is my way or the wrong way. It undermins the collective will of the international community including the United Nations. It has a vision of arrogance, warmongoring, threatening other nations, and policing arouind the world as America seas its interest.
As result, America is irritating its old allies as well as its enamies. Many Europian nations such as France and Germany became unhappy with the direction of these American Neoconservetive administrations. Furthermore, Russia which is and old foe feals threatened by the American policy. Forexample, America wants to expand Nato memmbers upto the Russian border by including Former members of Warso allies such as Poland. Not only that but also America wants to deploy missile interceptors in Poland, thus making Russia threatened in its security.
In addition to that, noweadays America ignors the will of the UN and acts unilaterally by attaking other nations as it did in Iraq against the advise of the UN security council.

I think under Bush's administartion America has lost its respect in the internatinal community, and hope it shouild re-arange its foreign policy and views around the globe by building peace and stopping its new clonialism ideology and policing other nations borders.

Sudan, Where it's Going?

Sudan, the land of 2 milion kilo-meters square, is called the sick African man. Most of the its land is suitable for caltivation, but this country is still depending on external aids. What are the reasons for that? why all the news that coming about it all related to catastrophes? or all about genocide? Sudan's luck of equality, justice, and democracy, are the most stronger factors of its luck of devolopment and civil wars.

One reason of Sudan's civil wars and luck of Devolopment is inequality. Sudan, as a state, passed by six eras: Nubian civilization, Arab entrance, Turkish-Egyptian colonization, Al-Mahadia revolution, English- Egyptian colonization, and the independance or the present sudan. the luck of equality started after Muhamed Al-Mahadi defeated the Turkish- Egyptian colonization. in his fighting, he depended on the non Arab people, who are known as good fighters. After his conquire, he made Al- Khalifa Abdala Altaishi to be the secound man in the state. however, Muhamed Al-Mahadi died in 1885. During Al-Mahadiah time, Sudan saw the first attempt of inequality, when Almahadiah chose an Arab governor for the black African region of South Sudan. In 1898, Sudan fall under the Anglo- Egyptian colonization. Sudan got its independence from Britain since January,1956. However, since then, the country was ruled by the Northerner Arab people, and they have never gave the other parts' people a chance to participate in ruling the state. What means that they were neglected, and even denied to be recognized as real Sudanese, who have right. This Arab controle of the state generates a kind of anti Arab movement, in other words, Africanism. The whole country has started to be aware about thier rights, and started to think of why not to orgaize themrselves and compose a revilution movement or even army to get their rights. this inequality has lead Sudan to a civil war, which has started in the south and spreaded to the East and West. The wars have contributed to stop the devolopment of the state.

Who am I? Where do I come from?

I can't really tell you where I'm from. I have had four passports (I only have 2 now) and I have lived in 8 countries. Some people say that I'm cosmopolitan, others say that I'm just being pretentious, but I can truly say that I don't have a home country. If home is where the heart is, then home is here because my husband is here. Canada isn't a bad place to live, and it's quite stable geographically and politically, which is nice.

Sometimes I just say that I'm "colonial". I have lived in several countries that were colonies of Britain or other countries, and my accent is RP (received pronunciation) so I fit in that category best. I speak a few other languages besides weird colonial English. I'm learning Canadian English, I can usually speak Australian English... Okay, those are accents or dialects. I can speak French pretty well, and I speak baby Japanese. I've studied other languages, both as a second language (being immersed) and as a foreign language (just studying from a distance) and I definitely prefer to study languages in context, in the country they are spoken.

As for WHO I am... I'm a teacher. I'm an artist. I'm a musician. I'm a tango dancer. I'm a daughter and a wife, but not a mother yet. I've been a model, a lab assistant, a cartoonist, an editor, a ceramic painter, a photocopy monkey and at a loose end. I love trying new things. I don't like having to do the same thing over and over again. I have the best job in the world because I get to meet new people from all different cultures and countries, and this makes every class different and interesting. I'm a very lucky woman.
